I'm Fernando Pires, a Creative Director with a passion for visual storytelling. My journey began in São Paulo, Brazil, where I honed my skills across print and digital media for over 16 years. Currently based in London, UK, I continue to push boundaries and craft engaging experiences.

Whether crafting captivating magazines, websites, NFTs, or any other digital asset, my work is driven by a deep passion for communication. I thrive on the process of weaving together words, photos, illustrations, and typography to create impactful narratives.
Since my arrival in London (mid-2017), apart from a brief spell on Shortlist Magazine helping the team as a freelance graphic designer, I'm working at Twelfthman, a creative agency with a focus on publications working with big clients such UEFA, Premier League, F1 etc. Our task is to create a wide range of publications. At Twelfthman we are also the publishers of Champions Journal a licensed quarterly magazine that covers the European football beyond the 90 minutes. I'm also involved in the brand new TM Labs, the Twelfthman branch focused on all things Metaverse related.
In my last 4 years before arriving in London, I was working as Art Director for some big Publishing Houses in Brazil and LATAM. Magazines such as SuperInteressante, L’Officiel, Playboy, O2, Info. I was also commissioned to produce custom and/or indies publishing such as Vida & Caminho magazine and United Nation Habitat Mozambique
At O2 magazine, I was the Art Director and I had to lead the art team, design the covers, and features and oversee the whole editorial direction caring about the look and feel of Brazilian and Argentinian versions of the magazine. I was also responsible for putting together the Body Issue project, the first nude photo essay in the Brazilian Sports Magazine Market. The project won four bronze medals at the SND-E (Society for News Design - Spain) competition.
At Superinteressante (the biggest Brazilian magazine on science, culture and technology) I was responsible for a special issue about sex, science and philosophy shortlisted at the Brazilian Biennial of Graphic Design (ADG Brasil). At L'Officiel Brazil, I was part of the team that launched the magazine redesign.
And In the meanwhile this experiences I had a brief and rich experience working with digital at Go Up, London's most vibrant web and branding agency.
Before that I was the Art Director at Época SP a monthly magazine about the city of São Paulo, As the head of the Art, Design and Photography team, I had to oversee the look and feel of both magazines, lead both art teams, design the covers and guide the visual aesthetic of both brands. I was part of the team that did the most awarded redesign of the magazine with some recognitions such as Brazilian Biennial of Graphic Design, Society for News Design and Prêmio Globo de Jornalismo.
Formerly I was a Senior Graphic Designer at Época magazine, the second biggest news magazine in Brazil where I was part of the team that won the Esso Award the greatest award in the Brazilian Market. Previously I was a Deputy Art Director at Editora Livre and I was responsible for the first design of the Livraria da Cultura magazine, a magazine about books and literature. Before that and in my first editorial job, I worked as an Intern at Placar Magazine, the oldest football magazine in Brazil and where I had my first recognition with one Prêmio Abril de Jornalismo of Magazine Special Edition.
